I woke up thinking of Audrey Hepburn today, I wasn’t dreaming about her, but she was in my mind since I first got out of bed. I thought about her as I’ve always imagined her to be, not Holly Golightly but the fragile bird-like girl she was, with the crooked teeth, the chiseled cheekbones and the bright sparkling eyes. To me, if there has ever been a girl who embodied grace and delicacy was her, I guess that’s the reason why most girls like her so much, she never was the sex kitten Miss Monroe wanted to be but she still was wonderful. They both tried so hard to be a dream and they did succeed like no one else.

After thinking about her for a very long time while I was in the shower I remembered that time I told you how much I idolize her and admire her, how Breakfast at Tiffany’s was a movie that never failed to make teary eyed and how Holly Golightly had the perfect sassy charm that I have always dreamed of having. I remember how I told you that no one could ever be as beautiful as Audrey and you told me she wasn’t that beautiful, she was just “pretty”, you broke my heart and made me think of this quote

“She held herself very straight, like Audrey Hepburn, whom all women idolize and men never think about.”

Jeffrey Eugenides

After a while I understood this, She was a girl who wanted to be girl, not a fatal temptress, not a a threat, neither a doll. She seemed to be happy being herself and I don’t think lots of girls could say that yet they do keep trying, as hard as they can, with all their might and all their heart, and in the end, that is just as beautiful and wonderful as being the girl every other girl wants to be.

I will always love this quote, it makes me dream that she truly was the loveliest girl ever alive:

“I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
Audrey Hepburn
