There has always been this delirious dichotomy in me. I hoard and I let go to waste, I keep, and treasure, and think everyday til dawn in all the possible ways to keep time from passing by, by making small memorizations of moments, conversations, faces I have loved and I have loved so many faces. Lovers and criminals, movie stars and strangers who get lost in the fog.

During the very same process of remembering, I start to forget. The curve of cheekbones, the luminous tone of someone’s skin, a crooked smile, the gleaming of teeth, sad eyes, I forget and forget and then cry when I cannot remember. There is not amount of work that could keep me from trying to save all these memories, every diary I’ve written with extensive descriptions of dinners, lovemaking, special moments. Every single photograph taken hoping to freeze what could never be frozen.

I want to remember because of love yet I forget because of hurt, the terrible hurt of time washing over what the mind tries to hide in a sacred place. Time steals everything. I came to this realization at a very young age yet still, I’m not ready to part with my moments, the kisses I remember, the love I have given and has been given to me with splendor.

I’ve never been one to put up resistance, love is the only danger I take in spite of myself. I am blinded by your desire, I am nothing but the flutter of wings, the softness of velvet in your arms, every costume, a mere decoration of eyes and coy smiles. In our encounters, the cheater becomes cheated when every sly turn of my hips is perfectly met by your awareness of my intentions, and still you find confusion, the veil hasn’t been lifted even when you have seen my face covered with flowing strings of tears.

I love beauty products, I find it so fascinating how a little bit of cream, black ink smeared through lashes and a pout in blooming pink can make a face look magically seductive. To me, beauty products and therefore aesthetics are genderless, you use whatever you feel like, there are no restrictions nor limits to create the dream you believe you could be.

In my book has always been more important to love what I see in the mirror than people's reaction to it. There will always be someone who will disagree and judge but at the end of the day, it's up to them and it has nothing to do with me.

I believe in beauty first and foremost, I believe it's important and necessary to have a personal aesthetic, whichever that could be. My immense love for beauty and beauty products has more to do with ideals rather than with terrible vanity (although I am a pretty vain fool).

It's all about secrecy and trickery, hiding what is not supossed to show, witchcraft and seduction...enhancing what is wonderful and concealing the flaws, it's never been about looking right for others but more about feeling like conquering the world when everything seems to look just right.

It's all make-believe

yet it's a make-believe that can always be recreated and washed off after a little while,

Tuberose Silky body oil by Terranova

A wonderful blend of primrose oil, safflower oil and vitamin e that melts quickly into skin leaving a shiny yet never greasy coat that locks in moisture. I personally find it to be more hydrating than most body creams and lotions, it's great to use after a shower while your skin is still wet.

The scent is pure tuberose in all it's glory

(never for the faint of heart), it's all hothouse flowers and poetic reveries of romance and sensuality.

Huile Prodigieuse, a multi-usage dry oil by Nuxe

During the last couple of months, I've been absolutely obsessed with oils in every form. This is the quintessencial dry oil that's been raved about in every magazine and beauty column. A mixture of 6 plant oils (Borage, St Johnswort, Sweet Almond, Camellia, Hazelnut, Macadamia). I use it on my face and around my eyes most every night, it sinks into skin in seconds and it doesn't look greasy or too shiny, it has the most amazing subtle scent, a sort of warm whisper of jasmine and almonds. Sometimes I mix it with foundation to make it look dewy and hazy.

Gardenia Passion Eau de Toilette by Annick Goutal

My love got this perfume for me, it's the most darling recreation of Gardenia (there is no real absolute of this flower to make perfume with) it has a dry undertone of spiced tuberose and some warm woods that are only noticeable after a long while. the dry down is wonderful, a warm white floral for special moments.

My love is absolutely allergic to most Gardenia notes, yet he never ceases to bestow Gardenia infused perfumes on my lap. This little detail says a lot of the kind of toxic relationship we have most of the time.

Powder blush in Exhibit A by NARS

A gorgeous powder blush in the most perfect true red. Inspired by this Guy Bourdin Photograph. NARS blushers are extremely finely milled and show on skin with the lightest touch. I use a very fine fan brush for this because I do not care for looking like a clown prostitute. With a very soft touch, it gives the most dreamy cherry cheeks.

Stilla's Covertible Color in Poppy

Rouge for cheeks and lips in my dear poppy red. This creamy little thing melts to the very touch of fingertips and it can be built up or down according to personal taste. It gives a very dewy soft look when done right.

Volume Booster lipstick in Foxy by Rimmel London

A pink nude lipstick that plumps your lips. I'm truly not a fan of lip plumpers and I must admit that when I looked at the color of this lipstick I did not think of anything else and bought it. That tingly feeling that comes with plumping lipstick is barely there in this lovely stick. It's gorgeous and lasts for ages.

Doll Eye Volume Mascara by NYX

Full spidery lashes with lots of length and incredible volume. It does not flake or smudge once it's on. There is this trick I usually fall for in beauty advertising; if something says "doll eye","baby lips", "nude", "dreamy" or "romantic", I'm done! it will be soon part of my beauty stash, I'm weak and foolish like that...

Sheer lipstick in Belle de Jour by NARS

The ultimate sheer neutral nude lipstick. It has a buttery creamy texture and it's truly the most natural nude I've ever owned and I have owned tons and tons of nude lipsticks.

Rouge G Le Brilliant in Gardenia by Guerlain

This lipstick is the future. It comes in a very heavy package with two tiny mirrors on each side for reaplication (do not love the heavy part but I understand why it is so). It goes on lips with such an incredible ease and it stays on forever. This colour is marvelous, a toned down dusty rose with true pink undertones, very natural and soft.

Avivon vitamin a pommade

This cream is all sorts of creepy, it's thick and goopy, it has a yellowish color which is not pleasant at all yet it smells like roses. It's truly a weird little thing, the packaging is awful and when you look at it or put it on your skin does not make you want to use it ever again, yet if you are patient enough and wait until next morning, I promise you'll feel differently. It's magic in a tube! a healing ointment for all kinds of crazy skin problems. It's pure vitamin a with some vaseline and lanolin which means that it's also a great anti-wrinkle secret. I put it all around my eyes or wherever my skin is flaring up. I use it on my lips as lip balm and I look awful before going to bed, but the next morning, I kiss my little tube and promise never to part from it

Hydra-Mask Intensive Moisturising and Regenerating care by Embryolisse

This is a great face mask. I lay a layer of this once or twice and week, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water and voilá! soft supple dreamy skin all over.

I believe the secret ingredient is Hyaluronic acid but just because I like to believe it so..it also contains Almond oil, Sesame oil and vitamins A, E and F

Nirvanesque eye contour cream by Nuxe

On Nuxe's site you can find this description of its ingredients;

Hyaluronic Acid fills fine lines and wrinkles, Amaranth smoothes the epidermis for a rested look. Optical pigment correctors have an instant action against dark circles, masking blemishes and leaving you looking radiant. I can't arguee with scientists. I love it, it's soft and it disappears quickly, I don't have that many fine lines yet but I believe this should keep those little suckers at bay.

My lover got me this beautiful dreamy book of candid and studio portraits of Audrey Hepburn by Mark Shaw for my birthday. I truly can't help but love the boy (which is not always the best thing for myself)...

A long time ago he took one of my Audrey Hepburn books and starting flipping through the pages. As he kept looking at the pictures, he seemed puzzled and had a very funny look on his face;

I asked him "what's wrong?" and he said; "I don't get it, she was terrible. She looks so awkward and she's too skinny. Why are you so obsessed with her?"

I rolled my eyes and felt secretely insulted yet just said:

"You just don't get it, you've never seen her act"

Indeed he had never seen any of her movies, so I made him sit through Breakfast at Tiffany's and my personal favorite; Funny Face. I cried at the end of both and he told me: "I get it now, she's one of those you need to see in movement"

He still doesn't find Audrey to be breathtaking and I still love her to death. It makes me think of this quote from The Virgin Suicides book;

“She held herself very straight like Audrey Hepburn, whom all women idolize and men never think about”

After watching those movies together, we never talked about it and my lover forgets everything quite easily, everytime I find myself thinking he's not a thoughtful kind of guy, he surprises me with these kind of gifts.

This darling book was given to me by someone whom I love too much way too much as a birthday gift. I could never explain how much I have loved reading every page

It’s safe to say I cry easily, I cry over lost babies, movies, songs, memories of childhood, people I miss, I cry all the time..and this book is so beautiful, it has me crying every two pages or so…and even though it’s pretty masochistic to keep on reading something that makes you blubber like a bunny rabbit, I can’t put it down. Walk miles and miles and see how everyone is doing whatever they can to feel joy, everybody is doing their damn best to take the next breath... believe that whatever maladies you’re surviving will one day seem petty and small, try and forget yourself for a little while and see the light shine through..

It’s been so hard to resume all the beauty, but indeed, I tried my best.

Dreaming my way out of missing you, my darling. The warmth of your body, the violence in your eyes, the sheer swinging way in which you have crept up into my every breath, these are things I can’t forget, baby.

I trick myself into looking away, I fool myself into falling in love with all of these silly things that keep my heart afloat but it’s not the same. At the end of the day, there is beauty and nothing else, every night the ghost of your love haunts me, every-single-night, all the love I have harboured for you, all the tears and the lovely sighs, that wonderful night in which you told me I was your pearl.

oh my love, how could I possibly forget all the wonderful things we’ve lived together? (getting drunk in lots of different hotel rooms, that awful beard you sported a couple of summers back, the trembling of your touch, the plushness of your lips, the dirty dirty things we’ve done to each other, how everytime you break my heart, you ask me to marry you, how you make my mascara run from crying and from laughing so hard all on the same day, every girly hissyfit I’ve ever thrown whenever you don’t listen to me, the way you demand to be taken care of like a baby. How could I possibly ever stop loving such a stupid brute yet achingly passionate and terribly beautiful man?.

I’ve heard “distance makes the heart grow fonder” but baby, distance only makes my pretty little heart grow sadder, so I dream, I dream away and pretend we’re not that far apart. I wait, darling, I wait for your touch, for the melody of your voice to carry me throught all the awful routines of every day night. My heart is always one phonecall away, one ocean away, one promise away.

Whenever you tell me “I’ve been talking about you the whole afternoon” a strange overwhelming sensation comes to me, like burning up and freezing all at the same time. All my limbs grow weak at the very thought of being a watercolor in your mind, I always wonder “what could he have possibly said?” and when I ask you, there is not an answer to be found. I’m always left alone in the same dark ocean of wonder and dreams.

Lying in my bed, I often think about these strange disturbing thoughts that occupy your brain, I often wish I could be a spy and find out everything there is to know about you… I wish I could know what makes you cry, what makes you burn, I wish I could live in your head, I wish I could flow out of your hands with the ink you write and fill every page with murder, violence and sex. every. little. thing.

Oh darling mine, if you ever knew how much I’d like to hijack your brain, find out the most terrible, horrible things you hide, you’d never want to see me again. I want to know you inside and out, I want your whispers, your tears, I want you absolutely and completely, I want to love you til it hurts….

This kind of guy who notices your every move, who loves your lashes black as night and horribly thick like spider legs, notices the changes in the shade of your lipstick, touches you in inappropriate places in public spaces. this kind of guy who wants to own you and pours you glasses of champagne until you can barely remember your name anymore. This kind of guy who likes to see you dress up and paint your face in your own exquisite delicate manner just to have the pleasure to tear it all apart in seconds, just to smear paint from your lips all over your face. This kind of guy who holds you like a flower but who does not ask questions but makes decisions and claims ownership of your body, a guy who takes his time, a guy who decides what you will have for dinner and what you will do during the day while you are together, this kind of guy who makes you feel chained and bound like Andromeda even when he barely can run his own life without making a disaster out of it all. This kind of guy who seems perfectly harmless and innocent but who could still have you on your knees asking for more. Oh baby, once your friends said to me “oh you’ve got him eating from the palm of your hand” but, darling, if only they knew! if only they could see this beautiful kind of black spell you’ve woven around me.

And to think I once believed you were not a dangerous man!

This fine feathered line between dramatic attachment and sexual obsession, oh baby, how we seem to cross it far too often. I’ve spent far too much time counting and memorizing the moles on your chest and on your back, the feeling of running my fingers through your hair, the clinching jaw that softly and divinely hurts my collarbone when you lay on top of me.

Thinking on ways how to keep the scent of your body on mine for longer periods of time. There is not a thought, not a dream that hasn’t been invaded by you, your face, your wishes bestowed upon me, there is not a moment, baby, not a second of life, I manage to spend without you. I’ve worn you, I’ve worn you all over until these thoughts and shadows of you become too heavy for me to bear.

The last time we slept together, you gave me this wonderful bruise after telling me “I want to eat you alive”, I was shaken by the thought of dismemberment but fascinated by this predatory hunger in your eyes. In the soft peachy flesh of my inner thigh I carry this wonderful memory of you, it hasn’t faded yet and even though I wanted it to look heartshaped, the only thing I see is the mark of your teeth and the violence that consumes you. I am glad, baby. I’ll always be.

Rather inspire dangerous and terrifying passion than candor, sweetness and pathetic kindness.
